BRIAN PARRISH
Brian Parrish sings second tenor for Vocal Edge. Professionally, Brian serves as director of choirs at Parkway West High School alongside Eric Anthony and also conducts the Chamber Singers at the St. Louis Children’s Choirs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music education in 2010 from Millikin University and received a master’s degree in choral conducting in 2012 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Brian is an active performer of jazz piano and voice; in addition to singing, he also beat boxes and arranges for Vocal Edge.
ERIC HOLYOKE
Eric Holyoke teaches general music at Warren Elementary School in Cottleville, Mo., and has been a part of Vocal Edge since the group began singing together in 2009. He graduated from Missouri State University where he earned a music degree in vocal education. Eric is a former member of the international champion barbershop chorus, the Ambassadors of Harmony. Vocal Edge is Eric’s first experience singing in a men’s a cappella group and he is loving every minute of it. When he isn’t singing, you can usually find Eric hanging out with his wife, Katie, and their three daughters.
JASON FAHEY
Jason Fahey has been singing since middle school and grew up in the performance community here in St. Louis. In high school, Jason studied voice with Nance St. James, performed at the Muny and with the traveling Muny Teens group. He was also a member of the Missouri All-State Choir in his junior and senior year where he got to know Ben. Jason went on to earn a BFA in musical theatre performance from Penn State University and spent a few years after college as a professional performer living in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Now, Jason spends his days working as vice president of En-Sync Group, a manufacturer’s representative firm specializing in electrical technology sales. He loves his job, performing with the Vocal Edge crew, and most of all his lovely wife, daughter and son.
JOEL CURRIER
Joel Currier is a journalist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and sings second tenor in Vocal Edge. He is originally from outside Chicago, which makes him the lone (and loathed) Cub fan in the group. In college, he led Colgate University’s men’s a cappella group, The Colgate Thirteen. There, he earned the nickname, “Joel A Cappella” for his sometimes unbearable obsession with the genre. After finishing journalism school at Mizzou and moving to St. Louis in 2005, Joel joined the three-time world champion Ambassadors of Harmony men’s chorus. Joel also likes running, photography, beagles and pretty much any brand of bourbon.
PAUL SPOONER
Paul Spooner is the group’s only Hawkeye State native. Originally from Des Moines, Paul was a member of the Iowa All-State Chorus all four years of high school and a member of the Iowa All-State Jazz Choir his senior year. He graduated in 2011 from The University of Iowa with degrees in journalism and communication studies and was events manager and a member of Intersection, The University of Iowa’s all male a cappella group. He currently works in public relations at the United Soybean Board. When Paul’s not singing first tenor in Vocal Edge, he’s making a weekend trip to a new city or doing something in St. Louis’ Forest Park.
CHRISTOPHER FREY
Christopher Frey is the beatboxer for Vocal Edge. His love of vocal percussion started at 13 after his older brother showed him a video on Youtube. He has always enjoyed making weird sounds and practices every day. He was the beatboxer for the Webster Groves High School a cappella group, A-Men, and in his senior year, he placed third by beatboxing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Show at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Frey has a degree in computer science from the University of Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo. When he isn’t beatboxing, he enjoys juggling, drawing, and of course, thinking about beatboxing.
